Please check our Burlap homepage for more details. We are now carrying the widest variety of widths in Canada for Burlap, including 4" wide for wrapping trees, as well as 8", 12", 16" , 18" and 20". This will hopefully make life easier for many of our customers who need the burlap as a simple table runner. Did you know it for a fact, that LEVIS makes cheesecloth shirts? I did not.

Cheesecloth has traditionally been used for cheese making purposes, but have you heard of it being used for clothing? You would be surprised to hear it, but cheese cloth has been used as clothing from times as early as the sixties. You could ask people from the seventies, but some fancy cheesecloth shirts were made in those times and were called as ‘GAUZE SHIRTS’. 

Since cheesecloth is a loosely woven fabric, it makes great garments for summer. Cheesecloth of a higher grade is particularly used for making garments since the strength of the garment is higher when using higher grades. In fact, cheesecloth is easily dyed and can be obtained at relatively cheaper prices thereby making it accessible at a lower cost and offering greater design flexibility for the designer. 

I think the garments made out of cheesecloth give a great linen feel to the garment and has the porosity to give you an airy, easy go look. For the environmentally conscious gentry, cheesecloth garments are completely bio degradable thereby improving the green quotient in the environment and making that little bit of a difference in improving the environment. The background fabric is here as well but being that it is very wide it is already double folded and in the racks. They are easily accessible from the showroom area and can be picked up at the warehouse. You can see the goods before you pay,  institutions, retailers, wholesale  and bulk buyers are all welcome anytim.

Folding and cutting area is open longer hours but is not open to  the public, as they are work areas and visible from the showroom area

We have 2 double folding machines running, both over 60 years old  that will enthrall the visitor with their engineering.

Full pieces are available for pick up during business hours. Cuts and short ends are available but arrangement must be made in advance and are for sale depending on availability

The warehouse is close to Yorkdale Mall  & the Orfus Road shopping area both known landmarks in Toronto, Public transit serves this area well the TTC has buses running from Yorkdale and the intersection of Lawrence ave. West and Caledonia. The 47 bus line serves both routes. The Bus stop is actually 60 seconds from our door.

Burlap aisle runners

The Burlap aisle runner was made of the 40 inch wide burlap. Just received this picture looks like summer though. Well better late than never. I guess.they had a long honeymoon.

Ninety percent of  our rustic wedding customers buy the burlap for table cloths and runners. Very rarely have i heard of them buying it for aisle runner, so I asked them to send me pictures. And here it is. It seems that they just laid the fabric on the ground no underlay or anchoring. looks like it worked just fine. I think they folded it over to give it a semi neat look.

If the ground is hard and not wet, I guess it makes sense. See in the center the fold. Perhaps they ran out of  jute, and then just laid the the new roll over the old roll. and it looks continuous.  I will ask to see what other innovative items they made with the burlap and share with our customers. Being a cost-effective material, nobody should have any qualms about putting the burlap straight onto the ground, even if it will get wet and potentially ruined. Also, the natural look and feel of the burlap seems to mesh quite intuitively with the grass and outdoors. Unlike a fancy red carpet which will seem out of place at an outdoor wedding (not too mention be much more expensive and probably completely ruined afterwards), the burlap will fit in with the theme of the wedding and fit in with the budget too.

For the younger crowd, the following table will help you quickly convert your burlap requirement. When it comes to area, it depends if you buy the 40 or the 60 inch wide jute. Burlap curtains on the other hand require lengths so the table below will be very helpful. The burlap wedding tables are usually  36-40 inches wide (we recommend using the 60 inch wide fabric).

These pictures of a recent rustic wedding and a pictures of the original fabric on the shop floor are being shared with you our readers to show how simple it is to create a rustic environment. at a celebratory function.
First see the original rolls , this customer took elven rolls of about 40 meters each.

I always assumed that the customer would go out and cut and sew the individual table cloths. Look closely at the pictures and you will see that all she did was lay out the 40" fabric, overlaying it in the center and leaving the  natural selvage edges on the side.
As the tables were 48 inches wide our 60 inch burlap would not have worked, should you have a 40 inch or less table you can use our 60 inch wide fabric with no edges at all showing in the middle and keep the outside edges natural.

The center of the table is covered by serving pieces so the edges  that lie on the table are not that obvious.

Unbleached cotton muslin organic and hemp

Many people confuse the term organic cotton with natural cotton . As you may see form the transcript of the chat below customers ask us if our unbleached cotton is organic when in fact they mean natural.
Organic cotton is grown without the use of synthetic pesticides, fertilizer.  Similar to organically grown produce.
The unbleached cotton muslin the awe carry is in its natural state. not bleached dyed or processed. There is a good chance that it is grown organically however we can  not certify that. As the mills buy the raw cotton from farmers co-ops n Pakistan China and India.
